PETER WALPOLE - PRODUCTION DESIGNER
Production Designer Peter Walpole was originally known as one of the UK’s most respected and sought after Set Decorators. He has worked with many notable Directors, but it is his collaboration with Lana & Lilly Wachowski on eight separate projects, starting as Set Decorator, Supervising Art Director and moving to Production Designer, that he is most proud of.
Peter has worked in over 30 countries across the globe from England to Australia, on such films including Star Wars, A Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones, Alien Vs Predator, V for Vendetta, Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, Jason Bourne and the highly acclaimed Netflix television series Sense8.
He production designed the finale Sense8: The Finale ("Amor Vincit Omnia”) as a two-and-a-half hour movie and a closure to the popular TV series. It was shot in Naples, Paris, Belgium and Berlin, directed by Lana Wachowski and produced by Grant Hill.
Last year Peter embarked on the ambitious Amazon and Amblin project, Cortés. Set in 1520 it tells the story of Hernán Cortes and his conquest of the Aztecs . The project required intensive research, complicated set builds and location work, all to be completed in Mexico City and coastal areas. After six months of prep, the project has been put on a temporary hold.
Peter has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on Dinatopia and also a nomination from The American Art Directors Guild for his work Cloud Atlas. He just won the British Film Designs Guild, 2018 Best Production Design for Sense8 – The Finale.
